GAVANIZED STEEL

Royal Steel Galvanized Steel Sheet (GI) is produced by our continuous galvanized line (CGL) which allows to form natural zinc spangle, creates smooth and soft-feel of surface but still ensures high resistance on corrosion and extreme weather conditions. 

Based on many researches on durability, RSC Galvanized Sheet (GI) is suitable for customers who are seeking for quality products with high durability, heat resistance, scratch resistance, and weather impact. 

PRE-TREATMENT
PRE-TREATMENT
After being uncoiled, the steel strip is first treated at the pre-treatment tank including degreasing, pickling, and cleansing. This process is designed to smooth the surface and increase adhesion of zinc during the plating process.
ANNEALING AND PLATING
ANNEALING AND PLATING

Annealing is the next process. In the annealing furnace, heat cycle is applied to obtain the required mechanical properties and activate the surface with a reducing gas, which makes it easy to coat zinc on the strip surface.

After that, Zinc plating is done through a zinc pot after annealing process in order to secure processability and the quality of the material of the final product. The amount of plating shall be adjusted to the customer request by air blowing (air knife) located above the pot.

COOLING
COOLING
After plating, the strip is still hot and will be cooled through cooling system and water tank to decrease the temperature of strip down to 600oC – 800oC; moreover, clean up all the mixture of salt, zinc dust, and other impurities in order to keep the surface always clean before going through the next process.
POST-TREATMENT
POST-TREATMENT
The steel strip will be dried up by a pair of rubber rollers after go through water tank, then continue to be immersed in a chromic (Cr) bath. This process will help increasing rust resistance for the surface and against weather impact.

QUALITY FEATURES

Corrosion Resistance

Physical Protective Action

If Zn is exposed to the air as a reactive metal, it becomes zinc oxide by sharply reacting with oxygen and also forms a thin film of basic zinc carbonate by reacting with carbon dioxide. This thin film prevents rust from corrosive environment with good dense adhesion.

Corrosion Resistance in the air

The life of Galvanized Steel is proportional to the coating weight of Zn. For same coating weight, however, the life may be largely changed by the usage environment. The corrosion resistance of galvanized steel in a city or industrial area is just 25~40% compared to an unpolluted rural area. The interior life at the same area is longer 5-10 times than the exterior life.

Formability

Due to excellent adhesion of Zn and ultra-thin alloyed layer of Fe-Zn, flaking hardly does not occur even after drawing work. Its formability is very excellent as much as cold rolled steel plates and it is available for diverse works.

Paintability

Galvanized Steel is mostly used after final coating, and the corrosion resistance of painting products depends on the disk, pre-treatment before painting and a kind of paint and varnish.

Weldability

For it has better electric conductivity than iron, such good conductivity makes electric resistance on the contact surface of the steel plate small and heating value is also small.

It has the lower meting point than iron. So, Zn attaches to electrode when welding and such attachment causes low continuous weldability.

Its current density falls a little bit due to comparatively wide contact areas by welding force (electrode force).
